| DESCRIPTION |
|
Erect herb, 0.5-1 m high, stem and branches angled, more or less hairy; root brownish, well branched. Leaves simple 5-8 * 2.5-3.7 cm, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, hairy, base rounded.

| PHARMACOGNOSY |
|
Root : Root occurs upto 10 cm * 0.7 cm, cylindrical, well branched, dirty brown; fracture fibrous; odour and taste not characteristic. Transverse section of root shows poorly developed cork, consisting of 2-4 layers of tangentially elongated, thin-walled cells; where cork is not developed, epidermis present, consisting of single layered cells; secondary cortex narrow, consisting of 5-7 layers of elliptical or tangentially elongated parenchymatous cells; secondary phloem narrow, consisting of sieve elements and parenchyma
