|
Erect woody herb upto 2 m tall, stem 4-angled, grey-pubescent. Leaves opposite, long-petiolate, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, acute, 5-15 * 3-10 cm, creanate-serrate, membranous, pubescent on both the surfaces.

|
Root : Root system is well developed. Numerous lateral roots arise from primary root; secondary and tertiary roots are thin, fibrous and greyish; main root is slightly brownish with a few longitudinal furrows; fracture hard and short. Transverse section of mature root shows thin bark and a very wide xylem; cork exfoliating, if present, consists of a few layers of tangentially elongated cells possessing brown contents
