| DESCRIPTION |
|
A small tree or shrub with spinescent branches, 1.2-1.8 m high. Leaves palmately trifoliate, the terminal leaflet biggest, margin crenate. Flowers brownish-red, in fascicles of 2-3; pedicles very short.

| PHARMACOGNOSY |
|
The bark is characterised by the presence of silvery, paer like brownish bark peelings. In young branches the bark is green below the epidermal peelingsdue to cholroplast. Drug occurs in vernicular or stalactitic pieces of pale yellow or brown coloured mass; makes milky emulsion in hot water and readily burns; when fresh viscid and golden coloured; odour aromatic; taste bitter and astringent.

| CULTIVATION |
|
The plant grown wild in the arid, rocky tracts, also in coastal areas on sandy and sandy loam soils. The climate required is typically semi-arid, characterised byv aridityof the atmosphere and extremity of temperature both in the summer and winter with average rainfall 356 mm from july to september. The ph of soil may vary from 4 to 8.
