| DESCRIPTION |
|
A deciduous tree, upto 30 m high, often with sharp axillary spines. Leaves broadly elliptic, 7.5-15 * 4.5-7.5 cm, 5-nerved, glabrous, shining. Flowers greenish white, in terminal, pedunculate, compound cymes.

| PHARMACOGNOSY |
|
Seed : The seeds are disc shaped, 17 to 30 mm in diameter and generally 3.5 to 5.3 mm thick, ash grey or greenish grey in colour, a little depressed on one side and arched on the other or sometimes irregularly bent. They are covered with numerous, closely appressed hairs radiating from the center to the circumference. At one point of the margin, where the microphyle is situated, there is a distinct prominence from which a raised line passes to the centre of the seed. The hilum is in the center of either the raised or depressed surface.
