| DESCRIPTION |
|
A large woody, much branched climber or climbing shrub, root bark light brown cracking horizontally; young stem and branches softly pubescent. Leaves simple, opposite, 3-6 * 2.5-3.5 cm, ovate, elliptic or ovate-lancolate.

| PHARMACOGNOSY |
|
Leaf : Ovate, elliptic or ovate-lanceolate, pubescent. Microscopically hairs are non-glandular, profusely present all over surface. There are five vascular bundles, a fan shaped bundle in the center flanked on either side by two small bundles. The midrib has a ventral bulge. In the lamina, rosette crystals of calcium oxalate are present in idioblasts in the spongy parenchyma.

| DISTRIBUTION |
|
Globally the species is distributed in the Paleotropics i. e. tropical regions of Africa and Asia. In India it is distributed in the Central and Peninsular India. This species is globally distributed in Paleotropics. Within India, it is found in open forests areas of Central and Peninsular India.

| CULTIVATION |
|
The plant grows in a avriety of soil and agro-climatic conitions in tropical and sub-tropical regions. The plant is propagated by seeds.
