| DESCRIPTION |
|
Erect or procumbent, glabrous, annual herb, 15-30 cm high; stem and branches glabrous or puberulous. Leaves 1-2.5 cm long, multifid, glaucous with linear-acute, mucronate segments.

| PHARMACOGNOSY |
|
Root : Root is diarch. In mature root with secondary growth broad medullary rays are observed radiating outwards two xylem poles, the secondary wood is laid alternating the xylem pole and fan shaped. The secondary wood elements are arranged in radiating rows embedded in parenchyma. Phloem is laid outside th exylem and is composed of sieve tubes, compainion cells and phloem parenchyma, followed towards the periphery by a few layers of cork cells.
Stem : Stem glabrous or fairly puberulous. Transverse section of stem is pentagonal in outline with fairly prominent angles under which collenchyma lies. The epidermis is a single layer of oblong rectangular cells with outer well developed tangential walls. The cortex is narrow, composed of 3 - 4 layers of chlorenchymatous cells.
Leaf : Leaf pale green, segments flat, multifid, glaucous, narrow-linear, acute, mucronate. Transverse section shows distinct bifacial structure. The upper and lower epidermis are single layered, formed of large hyaline cells, oblong to rectangular shape, stomata are of anomocytic type.
